How it works

From scan to aligners: the BClear Rx workflow

Everything happens in the BClear portal: your account, your bundles, your cases and every version of every plan.

    Create your account

    Register as a clinic or a dental lab with your country, your specialty, your practice or lab name, your name, mobile number and email. We send a six-digit code to your email; enter it within a day and the account is ready. Orthodontists plan with Ultimate, other dentists with Express.

    Choose a bundle

    Plans are prepaid in bundles. Each bundle sets the number of plans, the price per plan and how long you have to use them. Pick one in the portal and pay by card. Each case uses one plan; if BClear does not accept a case, the plan goes back to your bundle.

    Submit a case in six steps

    The case form walks you through everything the planners need.

    1. PatientName, age and gender, the arches to treat, and the upper and lower scans (STL, OBJ or PLY), plus a bite scan if you have one. Scans you uploaded before can be picked from your library.
    2. RecordsUp to eight photos (profile, frontal at rest and smiling, upper and lower occlusal, and intraoral right, front and left) and OPG or cephalometric X-rays, as JPG or PNG.
    3. DiagnosisThe chief complaint and diagnosis in your words. Ultimate adds a picker for major and minor issues.
    4. PrescriptionUltimate: your saved clinical preferences plus a patient-specific prescription. Express: six goals, each kept or improved.
    5. RestrictionsMark teeth to extract, teeth that must not move and teeth without attachments on a tooth chart, and add further instructions.
    6. ReviewCheck the whole case on one page, then submit it.

    We design the plan

    BClear's orthodontic team plans the treatment stage by stage, following your prescription and restrictions. BClear's terms commit to a plan within 3 working days of submission. You get a notification when it is ready.

    Review it in PlanStudio

    Play the plan stage by stage, superimpose the start, check the simulated occlusal clearance, and read the IPR, elastics and extractions on the dental chart. Ask the planner for changes in the case discussion; each revision arrives as a new version. When you are happy, approve it.

    Download the files and make the aligners

    Once you approve the plan, BClear prepares the print-ready files: a template STL and one STL for each step. Download them one by one or as a single zip, print the models and make the aligners in your clinic or lab, following the plan's report of IPR and elastics.

    Refine when needed

    If teeth are not tracking, upload a refinement scan to the case. The planners prepare a new version of the plan, and you review it the same way.

Before your first case

What to have ready

Complete records give the planners what they need the first time.

  • Upper and lower intraoral scans as STL, OBJ or PLY files, and a bite scan if you have one
  • Clinical photos: profile, frontal and intraoral views
  • An OPG, and a cephalometric X-ray for orthodontic cases
  • The diagnosis and what you want the treatment to achieve
  • Any teeth to extract, keep still or leave without attachments
